Born 1998 in Iceland. Imported November of 2005. Registered USIHC, Evaluated in 2007. Shown here in flying pace. Rider Sigrun Brynjarsdottir.
Athena is a beautiful and talented buckskin mare from the famous breeding lines Saudarkroki and Svadastodum (Kolkuosi). Her paternal grandfather is the famous stallion Kjarval fra Saudakroki who received 8.7 for riding talents. She is about 14.1 HH and is 5-gaited.
She is easy to tolt (first choice gait) and is light and responsive to the rein. Too sensitive and willing for a beginner, this mare will make a wonderful pleasure and competition mount for an intermediate to advanced rider. Pleasantly goey, intelligent and brave the more experienced rider will love the thrill of riding this mare.
Athhena in fast gallop at the breeding show. She has the potential to be trained as a competition horse as well as be a great trail and breeding horse. She placed first in green horse tolt under intern judge Heidi Kline in 2006 at Winterhorse Park.
Here she is pictured with her 2008 filly, just 8 hours old, sired by our stallion Fonix. She and Fonix produced a beautiful foal that shows tremendous potential for becoming even better than her parents. Athena is a wonderful mom, but will be started back under saddle soon and then can go to a new home after the foal is weaned this fall.
Here is Athena and her filly at 2 weeks of age. The foal is tall,long legged with a good shoulder and well raised neck. She shows long strides and is very fast, like her mom.
